However, this did not stop some amazing racing going on in all championships. Classic Thunder honoured Kevin Wendt, who sadly passed away recently, with his race car leading the pack around the track for a rolling start. Dale Gent took victory in race one with Vaughan Fletcher winning race two. A little further back in the VW championship Andy Thompson took the honours on both days. For the first time we had 03 cars sharing the grid with 93, which raised some eyebrows when the Honda Civics made mincemeat of some of the M3s! Ray West won the 93’s and Carl Swift took the flag in 03 in his Civic. Pre83 was won by Andrew Harrison by some margin on both days and 66 was won by Tony Preston. 05’s Gary Parkes blew away the field. Adam Gittings put up a gallant effort chasing him down but it was not to be. THRUXTON Rounds 7/8 July 2/3 Due to some scheduling issues with BARC, this meeting took place only two weeks from Donington. It meant grids were not as busy as you would expect for such a large club. Group1 welcomed back Steve Cripps in his RS2000 who pushed Steve Primett all the way to the line in both races. Pre05 saw Gary Parkes take victory in his 206 GTI. VW and Thunder were again sharing the grid. Ken Lark retuned to form in his VW after a couple of unlucky events. Dale Gent took overall Classic Thunder victory. 93 and 03 were again paired after the success of the Donington meeting. Ray West won the race overall with Paul Bellamy chasing him all the way to the flag. In 03 AJ Owen took race victory on both days. 7 The Flyer
