Packed grids and sunshine welcomed the CTCRC on the last weekend in July. Group1 continued to grow in numbers with a strong grid and some close racing. Steve Primett won both races with ease. Pre66’s David Hall also took the win in his Lotus Cortina on both days. In 03 AJ Owen deserves a special mention for what was the save of the year. Whilst leading the pack into Paddock on cold tyres he slid sideways in front of 27 cars, hit the throttle to pull the car straight and got away with it! He also went on to win Saturday’s race, but come Sunday it was Steve Bardens turn to go back to winning ways. Andy Thompson took the honours in race one and two of the VW challenge. Thunder Saloons got their own grid for the first time since Rockingham but nothing much had changed at the front, Dale Gent winning both races with ease. Pre93 saw Ray West take the flag with a chasing Mark Fowler not far behind. It was status quo on Sunday with Mark again failing to match the pace of Ray. BOSS saw a turnaround of fortunes with a good selection of fast Fords joining the club. New comer Terry Davies proved that you should not judge a book by its cover and put the four door Mk2 Escort on overall pole. Come the race though it was Reece Jones who went on to win in his Focus RS. Sunday’s race saw Terry Davies take the win with Kenny Coleman second and Reece Jones third. Pre05 had a huge selection of cars entered. On Saturday Gary Parkes took the flag, followed by his brother Scott and Andrew Busby third. On Sunday Gary took the win again, followed by James Fisher and Andrew Busby. CLUB NEWS – THE SEASON SO FAR 8 Classic Touring Car Racing Club
