The Classic Touring Car Racing Club has been invited to join Thruxton Retro (3-5 July 2026) for the first time this year, reflecting the club’s increased status in the historic racing world.
A weekend filled with iconic 80s music, family friendly entertainment, racing action, car and motorbike clubs, legendary machines, fun fair and much more, all at the fastest race circuit in the UK.
The theme of Thruxton Retro for 2026 is ‘Back to the ’80s’. A nostalgic nod to the ’80s, an era of big fun, big hair and even bigger tunes. The site will be full of attractions, displays, great food and drink, and on-site camping for those looking to stay over and join the party.

Each CTCRC championship will be in action on both days, with qualifying on Saturday morning and a race in afternoon, then a second race on Sunday. Saturday’s Pre-’66 Touring Car race will be a very special event, competing for the inaugural Fred Francis Award.

Seven of the eight CTCRC championships are in action (Super Tourers have been given a break until Touring Car Rewind: South at Brands Hatch on 1/2 August).
As we approach the mid-point of the season, Charles Norris leads the way in Pre-’66 Touring Cars with his Class D Austin A35 after scoring maximum with an expertly-timed joker last time out at Oulton Park. But he has Brendon Rooney (Hillman Imp) and 2024 champion Ian Thompson (Lotus Cortina) breathing down his neck, both having already played their jokers too.
Nic Grindrod (Ford Escort Mk1) holds a commanding lead in Pre-’83 Group 1 Touring Cars, while reigning champion Ian Bower (BMW M3 E36) is similarly well placed in Pre-’93 Touring Cars.
Dave Cave (BMW 328i E36) has a relatively slim advantage over Kam Tunio (Honda Civic Type R EP3) as he seeks to defend his Pre-’03 Touring Car title.
Mike Manning (Ford Sierra RS500) holds sway in BOSS, while Joe Collier (BMW M3 E46) and Colin Voyce (Ford Escort Mk1 Mountune Turbo) are setting the pace in Classic and Historic Thunder, respectively.
